Since many other businesses cut advertising in a down economy it will likely open up new doors for those who do advertise. Sites like Adwido exist and flourish in a down economy because of the cheap advertising options associated with this type of advertising. Those who utilize it will prosper.

Thanks for your question, the answer to your question is "NO". It is very ineffective and definitely not cost effective to run what is referred to as a "gimmick" ad. This is an ad that only draws viewing due to a gimmick such as a joke, funny picture, qoute or someother non-product promoting information. The problem with "gimmick" ads is that people do not take them serious and if you should ever miss a day or week of updating your ad, you will lose readers. Also, the cost to run a "gimmick" ad is expensive and not the type of ad you want to gamble on. Large companies that have built a brand can get away with this, but not your local mom & pop shop. Hope that answers your question. Thanks Dan

Well, better late than never! By the way, where are all your posts? This one is dated 3/26. Anyway, I was thinking about this advertising thing and have a suggestion. Of course this would apply to only one small facet of what it takes to get people's attention. Most people like to have something to look forward to or that they look for when starting their day and sitting down to read the newspaper or a magazine. For example, your favorite comic, obits, letters to the editor, Horoscopes. My favorite is always the inspirational. How can you make your advertising be the place people look for first? Would it be cost effective to insert a new inspiration, household hint or something in that realm for each new issue?
